Daniel Posner

Board Member

Daniel Posner is the Chief Investment Officer of Rensop Investment Group. The firm focuses on Private Equity investments in Energy, Real Estate, Specialty Finance and Growth Equity strategies. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to YieldStreet a fintech firm focused on asset-based lending.

Previously, Mr. Posner was the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of the Energy Opportunities Fund at Alliance Bernstein where he led investments in energy investments across the capital structure. He served on the Investment Committee and led the firm’s foray into the private equity arena.  Prior to that, he was the Head of Golub Capital’s Opportunistic Credit Strategy. Mr. Posner led the firm’s long-short credit opportunity fund manager, GC Synexus. Prior to joining Golub Capital, Mr. Posner was a Managing Director at D. E. Shaw & Co. where he was the global head of the firm’s Credit Opportunities and Distressed Investing Unit as well as head of the firm’s Portfolio Acquisition Unit. He also served on the Investment Committee of the firm’s Global Direct Capital activities. During his decade at the firm, he served on numerous boards and restructuring committees including FAO Schwarz, Globe Metals, Russ Berrie, Spectrum Brands, The Boyds Collection, and Owens Corning.

Mr. Posner graduated magna cum laude from Yeshiva University in 1991, earning awards in Economics and Literature. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1994, where he was a Gesher Scholar and a Bridge Fellow. He is currently an adjunct Professor of Finance at the Sy Syms School of Business in New York where he teaches a course on Alternative Investing – Hedge Funds and Private Equity.
