Social Innovation In Israel

With an amazing turnout of over 220 business people and entrepreneurs, IVN held its 2012 annual conference – From Investment to Social Impact – on November 20th, 2012, at the “Beautiful Israel in the Park” Convention Center, in Tel Aviv. Made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Mintz Levin and IBI Investment House, the morning was filled with fascinating speakers and a scintillating panel discussion and presented a marvelous opportunity to learn and network.

Sir Ronald Cohen – Chairman of The Portland Trust – As the Chairman of the Social Investment Task Force UK (2000-2010, Chair of the Bridges Ventures Advisory Board, Director of Social Finance UK and USA and advisor to the UK Government on the establishment of the Big Society Bank, Sir Ronald shared his experience and insight to the social capital market and how this innovative approach can be adapted to and implemented in Israel.

Mr. Eric Benhamou – IVN Chairman – Eric introduced the IVN Tandem Fund: the first social venture fund in Israel applying business standards to achieve social change. Every dollar invested by the fund is repaid by the social enterprise and ploughed back into other enterprises for a leveraged, long-lasting impact.

IVN’s Marketing & Development Manager, Ms. Jackie Goren, led a panel discussion on the topic of: Social Business in Relation to Affordable Housing. The esteemed panel consisted of Professor Glenn Yago, Senior Director of the Milken Institute; Ms. Charlene Seidle, Executive Director of the Leichtag Foundation; Mr. Ariel Yotzer, Ministry of Finance’s Budget Division ; Ms. Elisheva Mazya, CEO of the IVN- supported New Spirit venture; Mr. Aviv Ron, Real Estate Entrepreneur & New Spirit’s IVN mentor. The discussion was lively, enlightening and thought provoking.
